Perhaps one of the greatest joys of blogging is to see that your article made it to the top of the list. It’s a great feeling and I’m proud to share it with you. Remember when I first started blogging last December? Then, my blog wasn’t anything much and my articles weren’t read by many. Nonetheless, I remained consistent and persistent, and I am proud to say that my hard work is slowly paying off! Today, I would like to share with you 2 of my articles that have successfully made it to the top of the list. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter!
Article 1: Why Exams Are Useless
I wrote this article a while back in December. It details the reasons as to why exams are not useful in promoting learning or the joy of learning, for that matter. So far, the article has been granted the honour of becoming a featured snippet, thus allowing you to find the article quite easily. If, for some reason, you have not checked out this article, you can find it by searching “Why Exams Are Useless” on Google and I believe it should pop up. Alternatively, you can click on this link: https://bestofwrite.com/2020/12/10/why-exams-are-useless/
Article 2: Rich People: Expectations Vs Reality
The ranking of this article is not as impressive as the previous one, but it is worth mentioning as well. This article details the differences between our perceptions of the rich and who they really are. I believe this article will give you a better insight into the lifestyles and mindsets of the rich. You can find this article on Google by simply searching the article’s title, or “rich people expectations”. Likewise, you can also click on this link to access the article: https://bestofwrite.com/2020/12/23/rich-people-expectations-vs-reality/
This article, although short, serves as a quick update to the state of my blog and its articles. What do you think about the articles above? Do comment down below! Thanks for reading and come back some time again!
As the famous contemporary author John C. Maxwell states, “The secret to your success is determined by your daily agenda.” Our everyday choices and actions determine whether or not we will attain success in the future. Success is not something that falls from the sky, nor it is something that we can merely purchase with money. Success is a journey and requires sacrifice – the sacrifice of one’s time, energy and mind to a cause. It requires consistency, motivation and most importantly, hard work. However, many give up in the middle of their journeys to success, citing numerous reasons and excuses such as “I don’t have time!” or “It’s too difficult! I simply lack the talent to succeed.” With this in mind, is it possible for us, mere mortals from different walks of life, to ever obtain success? The answer is a resounding “YES!!” In this article, I will discuss how each and everyone one of us can achieve success, even though it may seem impossible for many of us. #1: Discover and Follow Your Passion
What is it that brings you the most joy and satisfaction? Solving problems? Playing Chess? Writing? The point is, you must discover this passion and feed it. Of course, life is not as simple as it seems. For many adults and teenagers, with so many responsibilities and little time, chasing this passion may seem a rather daunting task. As a result, they will find their passions waning with time and eventually, these inner flames will die out, never to be found again. Meanwhile, many are not willing to give up their current jobs and careers, which they have taken up solely for the sake of financial sustenance, clinging to the belief that their passions will never be profitable or appreciated. The truth is, if you do not find and pursue your passion, you are doomed to sufferall your life. You will find life meaningless and find yourself bombarded by perpetual boredom, and when you finally realise, in hindsight, that you should have followed your passion from the beginning, it would be too late. So, I implore you, unearth your passion and follow it to the end. Learn to give up the limiting beliefs that plaque your mind day and night. Success and money will come in due time, as long as you dedicate your time and effort consistently. However, do note that this necessitates a degree of sacrifice. To illustrate this, let us study what Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, did to pursue his passion and achieve success. When Bill was a teenager, he found himself to love software and programming. He dreamt of a future where every home would have a computer and wanted to be at the forefront of this revolution. When he was 18 years old, he enrolled in Harvard University. However, he realised that it would only hold him back – he wanted very much to start a company of his own. Consequently, he made the most remarkable and astonishing decision of his life, and that was to drop out of Harvard, which in retrospect, would be the pivotal moment of Bill’s life. Now at this point you might be thinking, “Is Bill crazy or something? Harvard is so hard to get in and he’s just throwing it away like that?” First things first, this isn’t telling you to drop out randomly and spontaneously from university. In Bill’s case, he considered and concluded that his passion had to take precedence and that enrolling at Harvard would only hinder his path to success. What I am trying to say is that, you must be ready to make the bold decision to give up everything you have planned to make way for your inner calling. Do not let external factors and fear dictate what you should or should not do. Remember, the willingness to sacrifice anything and everything for one’s passion is what sets successful people apart. I assure you, only by doing so will you be free and contented.
#2: Work Hard And Be Consistent
Once you have identified and locked on to your passion, you must work on it day and night. There is simply no other way. This part of the journey is the hardest and many give up in the middle of this phase. Here, you might not see big improvements and every practice session may feel mundane. You must be careful not to think that you aren’t getting anywhere. The truth is, you are improving everyday, it’s just that you can’t see it! Let’s say everyday you improve by 1%. 1% might not feel a lot, but after 365 days, you would have improved 365%! Of course, your improvements cannot be calculated and even estimated by such crude numbers and percentages, but you get the idea. Everything will seem slow at first, but after much consistent practice, the law of accelerating returns kick in and you will soon find yourself improving much faster. Let me explain what this “law of accelerating returns” means here. In the early stages of learning a skill, your skill level is, of course, low. Due to a lack of knowledge and familiarity with the field, more time is spent on trying to understand the subject at hand and the durations of your practice sessions are limited. At this point in time, trying to practice for a few hours at a time will only result in you becoming burnt out and more confused. However, with daily practice and learning, your knowledge and skill increases and thus you are able to practice for longer durations and with much more focus. With this increased practice, your skill level and knowledge increases much further, and the quality of your practice sessions increases as well. This in turn gives birth to a never ending, exponential cycle of learning and improvement. Now, the aim of this phase is to reach the point where even hours of practice would seem inadequate and effortless. Reaching this sweet spot will allow your creativity to flow in ways you’ve never seen before and it is at this point that you will find mastery. (If you would like to know why you should never give up easily, check out my article here: https://bestofwrite.com/2021/01/14/never-give-up-easily/)
#3: Replacing Negative Perspectives With Positive Ones
Yes, hard work is important and all, but how do you sustain yourself through this journey? How do you control your emotions? It’s all about your perspective. Ask yourself what failure means to you. Is it the end? Does it mean that you are incapable? The answer to all these questions is a stark NO. Failure just means that you have to work harder. All you have to do is to switch your perspective. Robots and machines do not whine when they experience failure. Failure to them is just a sign that their database is not wide enough and that much more data is needed to increase their success rate. Even machines experience failure on a daily basis, let alone human beings. The only difference is that machines do not attach any emotional significance to failure – they just move on and become better with time. The cycle of learning and failure is the very foundation of learning, even in artificial intelligence. But of course, we are not machines and we are vulnerable to the negative thoughts that come from our very own minds. To overcome this, you have to change your mentality towards the field you are working on. For instance, instead of seeing a Chess match as a battle between two parties, a better way to view it is that Chess is a puzzle battle – the player which solves it the most accurately wins. Failure would not mean that you are better or worse than the other player. It just means that you did not solve the “puzzle” accurately enough! Whether it is you are a Chess player, an athlete, a writer or mathematician, it is essential to learn to work like a machine, celebrate like a human.
Success is no doubt a long journey that requires much sacrifice, hard work and grit. However, it is not impossible to attain. Whenever you experience failure, just be like a clock. Just keep moving.
Meanwhile, are there any other factors of success that I have not mentioned in this article? Do comment your thoughts below!
Writing is something we have been doing ever since our childhoods. All we had to do was pick up a pen or pencil and scribble away. Back in our younger days, writing seemed fun, even transcendent. Now, many of us find it a boring to do, even worse so when we don’t have the option to type. Technology has rewired our minds to prefer things that are more efficient, simple and elegant. We hate apps that have an obnoxious design. Meanwhile, tech companies are try to make their devices and appliances thinner and lighter. Many of us fail to see the value of writing and dismiss it as a mere hobby or an ancient relic of the past. At most, we only write down what we need to get at the supermarket. What’s even funnier is that our vocabulary has gradually degraded overtime. In fact, I encounter many people who know no substitute for the word “happy” when chatting on WhatsApp. So why should we write then, given that technological advances have basically eroded the need for writing? In this article, I shall discuss this topic in greater detail. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter!
#1: Writing Helps You To Express Your Feelings
Writing is a great way to release stress – a feeling we all know too well. We have become increasingly absorbed with our jobs and commitments, leaving us with little time for reflection. Many of us have become mindless robots, following a set routine – wake up, work, sleep, repeat. To many, the word “tomorrow” is no different to the word “today”. It’s all the same to them. Writing gives you a sense of time, a sense of what you have done in the present day and what you look forward for the next. This helps to break the monotony between days and allows us to better understand our deepest emotions. Often, we ignore these emotions, hiding them. And when they finally explode, our lives take a big hit. In summary, writing is a great way to understand your thoughts, thoughts that disappear and appear throughout the day. By penning them down on paper, you will be able to capture and study them.
#2: It Lets Your Creativity Run Wild
Much like drawing or painting, writing is a way to express your innate creativity. You can write anything you want. Love science fiction? Go ahead and describe the world of your dreams. It could even be something as simple as planning for your team project tomorrow. Point is, your paper (or text file, if you are using a computer or device) is an open canvas awaiting your ideas. Armed with ideas, a vivid imagination and your amazing brain, anything is possible. Meanwhile, writing activates both your left and right brain hemispheres. According to research, students who read and write extensively show greater creative performance than those who do not.
#3: It Improves Your Communication Skills
Those who write regularly are better able to understand their emotions and those of others. In fact, the ability to empathise is an essential skill in the social world. Furthermore, writing enhances your ability to organise and express your thoughts. This also leads to an increased fluency of speech. This will be useful in team projects of any kind, as you will be able to bring your messages across much more easily, thus allowing your subordinates and superiors alike to understand your ideas at a much deeper level.
Writing is something I would encourage all of my readers to try. Perhaps you could try to write a few lines or keep a personal diary. I hope that you did enjoy this article, and if you did, do consider giving it a like! Thanks for reading!
Your beliefs, principles and faith determines how you live. These vary from person to person, depending on one’s background, life experiences and of course, upbringing. What you think, how you think, how you speak, all reflect your inner self. All these determines where you’ll go and how far you’ll go in this world. Today, I will share about the life principles I live by and why I do so. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter. Without further ado, let’s begin.
#1: Treat Others The Way You Want To Be Treated
I think this life principle constantly eludes us, especially in the present world. All men desire happiness, love and care. However, do we consider the feelings and needs of others? Often we become selfish individuals, as we seek the ideals of the world. We start to think that the world only revolves around us. This way of thinking is prevalent in many people today, especially with social media everywhere and the inception of the internet. The reason as to why I think that we should all treat others the way we want to be treated is that no man is an island. The world does not revolve solely around us. All of us are part of the same race and have the same needs. Only if we work together, respect each other and care for each other can we achieve and move forward as one humanity. Don’t be afraid to give a hand to those who are in need and lift others up with you.
#2: Do What You Love And You Will Succeed
In the past, many thought that success can be obtained through sheer hard work and willpower. Well, at least that was the thinking of the 20st century, especially for many Asians. The idea was that if you achieved more, you would be able to live a happier and luxurious life. While it is true that you might be more likely to succeed if you had more qualifications and achievements (again to some extent), you will not feel happy at all. Later, you will start to question the meaning of your success and you will start to detest every single day at work. Without a purpose or passion, success is meaningless and impossible to attain. What I believe is that as long as you do what you love and work towards it every single day, you will gain true success. Not only will you be granted great happiness, but you will also naturally be more determined and persistent. Look at Jeff Bozos and Bill Gates. Both of them have built a net worth of many billions of dollars and they could choose to retire any time. After all, the money which they possess is enough for them to live luxuriously till the end of their lives! However, both of them still choose to work everyday, because to them, their work is play. To them, they aren’t working at all, but doing what they love. I rest my case. Only when you follow your passion can you be happy and successful.
#3: Care For Others, Especially The Poor
This builds upon principle #1. As humans, we have to be able to care for other members of our race. We should spread love and hope around the planet, and be united. As stated earlier above, we are not alone. We are not islands. We are all interconnected in many ways, even if we don’t perceive it. Yes, caring for others can be difficult and many of us may not have the courage to do so. However, all of us can play a part in helping each other. Some simple acts of love we can do is to donate to the poor, support your neighbours and build friendships. Many, including the poor, suffer not because of their circumstances or what they have went through. Instead, it is because of the indifference of others towards them. In other words, silence in the face of poverty, evil and suffering is the greatest evil among all evils. This is why I believe learning to care for others and the unfortunate is what defines us as humans and as a species. A single act of love is all it takes.

I’m sure many of you have played with LEGO during your childhoods. Personally, I love to build and design with LEGOs, not only because of the endless possibilities that can come from building with LEGOs, but also because it brings up old memories. Now, we see the brand everywhere and it is present in almost every modern household. In fact, it has become an educational tool in many schools and is regarded as one of the most popular brands in the world. But why do you and I love LEGO so much? We’ll explore these reasons in this article. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter! Without further ado, let’s begin.
#1: The Possibilities Are Endless
There is no limit to what you can build with LEGO. The possibilities are endless. Different bricks and parts can be attached together to form different structures, models and figurines. It’s an empty canvas and you have the total freedom to build and design what you like. Love cars? You can build it with LEGO! Love dinosaurs? You can also design a unique one for yourself using LEGO! It’s up to you as to how you will make your ideas come true, as there is no set instruction for how you can utilise LEGO. This is exactly why it is used by architects, artists and even engineers to express and test their ideas.
#2: Playing With LEGO Gives A Great Sense of Joy
As mentioned before, there is no fixed instruction as to how you should use or play with LEGO. In fact, LEGO sets are sold in bags of parts with an instructional manual included. Contrary to other toys, LEGO models do not come pre-made and are required to be built by hand. I loved LEGO mostly because of this reason. I would remember being very excited as I went about, instructional manual in hand, building my LEGO models. As I neared completion of the model, I would feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, while at the same time full of anticipation. And when it was finally done, I felt like I had just finished the greatest artwork of the century. I have no idea how to express this feeling in words. You have to try it for yourself, then you’ll get what I am talking about.
#3: It Tests Your Thinking Skills
The infinite nature of LEGO promotes free thinking and creativity, especially in children. LEGO is not limited to mere model vehicles, trains, architecture or art. In fact, LEGO has become an integral part of robotics and programming! Some have also utilised LEGO for Physics experiments as well! As long as your child is able to imagine it, he/she can build it! This lays down the foundation for future career paths, such as that of engineering and entrepreneurship. Of course, not all is lost for us adults. Sometimes, as we become too accustomed to following returns as we go about our hectic lifestyles, we start to lose the ability to think for ourselves. LEGO forces us to think outside the box and explore how different parts can be interconnected to function as a whole.
The word “play” constantly eludes us, especially when we grow older. We lose the curiosity to learn and innovate, and naturally we become machines, programmed to do mere tasks. LEGO helps to merge both play and thinking into one, thus promoting cognitive development and also improving your imaginative and creative-thinking capabilities. I hope that this post was helpful to you, and if it was, do consider giving it a like! Thanks for reading!
Many of us fear exams and the risk of going “blank”. With so much to do in school, how do we deal with and prepare for exams? Is there any secret to acing your exams? Well, there isn’t a fixed formula, but this article will provide some tips which you can use for your exam preparation. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter!
#1: Start Revision Early
Time is of the essence and procrastination is not an option. Starting revision early is one of the best ways to do well for your exam. The reason for this is that your mind requires time to process the knowledge which it has absorbed. Furthermore, many exams such as that of Biology and Geography have enormous amounts of content, which are impossible to memorise in short periods of time. By spreading your revision time out over a longer period of time (I’m talking months), you will feel less stressed and have more time for other activities. This also gives more room for potential procrastination lapses and allows for more flexible planning. Take my advise and don’t cram. Cramming never works as your mind is not able to take large amounts of information in a single sitting. Information will just end up overwriting other information and you will not be able to remember anything. In fact, the forgetting curve, founded by Hermann Ebbinghaus, estimates that 70% of learned information is forgotten the next day. You might be able to remember everything the day before the exam, but you won’t be able to recall anything the next day.
#2: Don’t Memorise Blindly
Of course, memory is important. However, memorising blindly can do more harm to your test scores than good. It’s like having the material to build a house, but not having the blueprints to do so. Likewise, before memorising any content, do ensure that you have a clear understanding of the concepts behind it. For example, you could first read your textbook one or two times and check if you are able to understand its concepts. In the event that you do not understand any part of the textbook or material, do seek help from your teacher or instructor as soon as possible. Only after you are able to understand the concepts should you start memorising the content. This helps to facilitate better memory and recall. As Warren Buffet once said, “Risk comes from not knowing what you are doing.” Memory and understanding go hand in hand. You cannot memorise without understanding what you are memorising
#3: Use Flashcards
Flashcards are a great tool for assessing how much you know and how much you don’t know. This helps you to identify your weaknesses and work on them. Using this strategy increases your efficiency manifold, as you spend less time working on what you already know and have memorised, and spend more time on what you don’t know and have forgotten. This is the exact reason why highlighting your notes and rereading your textbook is useless. This method, which uses passive recall, does none of the things flashcards can do. The danger of merely rereading your textbook lies in the illusion of understanding, where you might end up confusing fluency of the text with understanding. You simply have no idea of what you know and don’t know. Flashcards, on the other hand, use the concept of active recall, which prepares your mind for potential question-and-answer scenarios and strengthens retrieval pathways.
This post is a short one, but I hope that the tips were of help to your exam preparation. The key to acing your exams is not intelligence, but rather your study strategy. To learn is not enough. We need to learn how to learn.

Noise is everywhere. Noise doesn’t just refer to its physical form, but it also refers to its non-physical form, which can be our anxiety, worries, burdens and other negative thoughts. We are pummelled by both physical and non-physical noise as we go about our daily lives. We have decreasingly less time to think for ourselves, to ponder and to reflect. We become too attached to the world and the mind fog that accompanies it. We notice less of the little things of life and become mindless machines. This is why silence is important. Shutting out distractions, taking a break and reflecting are just some of the things you can do to introduce some healthy silence into your life. You might be surprised, but many supposedly beneficial things in the world, such as friendship and money, can take away our capacity for happiness and drain our energy away. In this article, we shall discuss why silence matters in our lives and some ways we can harness its power. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter!
#1: Silence Promotes Concentration
Silence allows us to give our full attention to a certain task, event or objective. Our brains are not designed to multi-task and we become easily distracted by background noise or certain types of music. Have you ever found yourself unable to focus on a single matter at hand and switching between tasks? A good way to improve your concentration would be to shut out all possible sources of distraction, such as your mobile devices and computer. For those of you who have read my previous articles, you might have read that listening to music can help to increase concentration. Some of you might say, “Hey, that’s contradictory! You just said silence improves focus!” The truth is both are able to improve concentration. However, be careful to music which are not distracting in nature. For example, listening to classical music can help to reduce stress and relieve anxiety. More details can be found at https://bestofwrite.com/2021/01/15/heres-why-you-should-listen-to-classical-music/. These two methods, help to remove mental noise – distracting thoughts which seek to pull our attention away.
#2: Silence Allows You To See the Bigger Picture
In the 21st century, we find ourselves moving from one event to another in rapid succession. We become so entrenched in the world’s events and our daily lives that we virtually have no time to step back and reflect. Reflection is a powerful tool in our path towards success and life in general. Every time you get a period of silence, do take the opportunity to think about what you have done for the day. Are you moving towards your goal? What could you do to be more productive? What were the setbacks I faced today? What can I do more for my loved ones? This thinking process helps us to plan forward and improve ourselves daily. This is how you and I can obtain success, step by step, only if we are ready to learn and reflect on what we can do better each day.
#3: Silence Promotes Relaxation And A Healthy Mind
Initially, some of us might find silence to be especially grating. This is indeed because we are so used to feeding our minds with countless distractions and overloading it with information. Consequently, we find ourselves craving for them and become unable to focus for long periods of time. Many of us suffer from short attention spans, as many of us have the bad habit of scrolling through social media and task switching. Silence gives our brain a chance to detox and get a hard restart. In fact, silence has been shown to promote neurogenesis, the production of neurones and improve sleep quality. For those of you who have trouble sleeping, you could try to meditate and take deep breaths at the same time. This should help you to feel calmer and better able to sleep.
Sometimes, all of us need a break from the outside world. Silence is something that almost always eludes us. We must learn to understand its power and how we can utilise it. I hope that this article was a refreshing one and managed to convince you of the power of silence. If you did enjoy this article, do consider giving it a like! Fast food has become a highly convenient dining option for many of us. Now, almost every shopping mall has at least one fast food restaurant, be it McDonalds, KFC, or Jollibee. As most working adults are hard-pressed for time, eating at home has become a rare occurrence and it is a common sight to see parents eating out at fast food outlets with their children. On the other hand, many people love eating fast food simply because of its taste. Yes,even I admit that KFC’s crispy chicken is indeed delicious and mouth-watering. But have you ever considered how fast food affects your health? If you have never done so, I strongly advice you to read this article. For those who have, this article seeks to reiterate the effects fast food has on your health, especially in the long run. The Angry Birds 100% approve of this article, probably because they don’t want to end up becoming your next KFC meal…
Heart attacks happen when your heart tissues have their supply of oxygen and glucose cut off. This happens when coronary arteries in your heart become blocked as fatty deposits become stuck on its inner walls. For those interested to learn more, this process is called atherosclerosis, which is responsible for heart attacks. Major causes of atherosclerosis include high cholesterol and sodium intake, lack of exercise, smoking and high blood pressure. So what is the link between heart diseases and fast food then? The answer lies in the fact that fast food products contain high amounts of harmful cholesterol and fat. The risk of heart attack is higher for those who lack exercise and consume fast-food at the same time. In fact, a study conducted by researchers from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health showed that consuming fast-food once a week increases the risk of death from coronary heart disease by 20%.
#2: Fast Food Is One Of The Leading Causes Of Type-2 Diabetes
As mentioned before, fast food often contains high amounts of unhealthy cholesterol and fats, and is low in nutrition. In fact, fast food products contain high amounts of calories, low amounts of fibre and the infamous MSG, also known as monosodium glutamate. It is because of these reasons that fast food and obesity are very closely linked. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that most fast food products are addictive in nature, which is mostly because they are incredibly convenient and affordable for what they offer. Right, so how does this cause Type-2 Diabetes then? To begin, we must understand that Type-2 Diabetes is caused by decreased sensitivity to insulin, which is an essential hormone responsible for the regulation of blood glucose concentration. Since fast food products are high in calories, consumption of it will result in high blood glucose levels, which in turn results in a sudden spike of insulin to keep it under control. Those who are overweight tend to have a higher resistance to insulin, thus increasing their vulnerability to Type-2 Diabetes.
#3: Fast Food Affects Cognitive Function And Memory
Fast food products contain a high amount of saturated fats, which is already a cause of heart failure. Firstly, the consumption of saturated fats decreases neurogenesis, which refers to the production of neurones. In fact, the impairment of neurone production might be a cause of dementia and depression. Additionally, increased consumption of saturated fats decreases memory and cognitive function.
It’s fine to consume fast food once in a while, but as with all things in life, it must be done in moderation. Overconsumption of fast food products can have detrimental effects for your health and even lead to death. As they say, without health, there can be no wealth. So, let us learn to pay more attention to our diets and care for our bodies, which are extremely fragile despite of their complexity.

All of us have been, from time to time, tempted to throw in the towel. At times, your mind tells you that your persistence and efforts are futile. However, it is exactly because of this that many men fail in their pursuit of success. In this article, we shall discuss why you should never give up easily and how you can reach success, day by day. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter! Without further ado, let’s begin.
The Key to Success
The key to success is unyielding persistence. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Likewise, success doesn’t just come overnight. Instead, it is the product of years, or even decades of hard work. We can see this even in nature. Planets take years to form, while our brain requires time to consolidate short term memory into long term memory. The moral of the story is this: Nothing comes immediately, and certainly not success!
“I haven’t failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
With that in mind, let us understand that we must approach success one step at a time, day by day. This leads to my next point, and that is consistency. In our pursuit of success, we might not be able to see results immediately and this can be quite frustrating for many. Patience, consistency and delayed gratification are, in fact, very closely linked and they are the keys to success. Consider someone who is trying to develop the habit of reading. After 30 days of daily reading, he/she might complain that he/she finds the habit hard to maintain and might struggle to stay motivated. However, perhaps after a year, he/she, after consistent daily reading, would have gotten used to the habit of reading and would find it effortless.
Let us consider an exponential function as an analogy. The image above shows an example of such. Take a look at the graph at its beginning. Initially, the graph has a very low gradient and it doesn’t look like it’s going to increase much. However, as the x-values increase, the graph gradually becomes steeper and its gradient gradually becomes higher. This applies to life as well. Initially, we might feel like nothing is gained and that we’re not moving in any direction. However, with time, success becomes nearer and more attainable.
Of course, to move towards success, we have to consistently move towards it each day. Conducting a habit of reading or writing everyday, for example, ensures that your writing skills are improving every single day, albeit slowly at first. This might sound daunting, but this is what delayed gratification is all about – trusting the process. Worry about success later, just do what you can do everyday, consistently. Whenever you feel like giving up, remember that failure and struggles are part and parcel of the journey to success. Strive for excellence and be consistent, and success will follow.
“Pursue excellence, and success will follow, pants down.”
Rancho in 3 Idiots
So this wraps up my short post for today. I got inspired by the hit Bollywood movie 3 Idiots and decided to discuss the importance of persistence. As long as you love what you do, never give up on it. Too many people give up too fast and wash all their effort down the drain. Never allow yourself to falter easily and forge forwards. The hardest roads in life often lead to the most beautiful destinations. If you did enjoy this post, do consider giving it a like! Follow me and subscribe to the newsletter if you haven’t done so!
