This is a controversial question pondered by many. Indeed, money can buy you lots of stuff and grant you a better life. But is it the key to happiness? It is the desire of all men to be happy and many aim to be rich. However, money can also blind you, destroy you and take everything you love away. So, is there a definite answer? In this article, we shall discuss this topic in detail and analyse whether money is the definite answer to happiness. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter! Your support is greatly appreciated. Without further ado, let’s begin right away.
Yes, Money Can Give You Happiness To A Certain Degree
As mentioned earlier, money is able to grant you a better life. It can be used to buy food, luxuries and many other items that you desire. Money takes care of our basic needs and ensures our survival. It gives you freedom to control your life, do what you love to do and help others as well. For example, saving up money ensures that your current/future children will not have to worry about their education. I think we can all agree on this point.
However, There’s A Catch
Money is indeed useful and important in our lives. However, obsession with money can end up destroying you. Many people yearn to be rich and often, quickly. As a result, they are willing to do almost anything just to get more money in their pockets. For example, some might end up becoming addicted to gambling while others might engage in illegal activities. On the other hand, many become obsessed with the power of money and what it can do. In fact, many end up spending a large portion of their money on unneeded and frivolous luxuries. Consequently, they are most likely to end up in debt and poverty. But this doesn’t stop here. Not only does the greed of money affect your financial decisions, but it also changes your character and how you interact with others. It creates selfish men and/or women who will stop at nothing to gain more power and money, even if it is at the expense of their loved ones. Still unconvinced? Mr. Krabs from the famous Spongebob Squarepants cartoon show is a great example of how money can influence men and is the personification of greed itself.
This has been a short post so far, but the main point I would like to bring across is that, as with all things in life, everything must be done in moderation. Sure, money is important, but we shouldn’t be overly obsessed with it. We must learn to be content with what we have and to place God, our families, our loved ones and human life above the material things of the world. The greed and obsession of money has destroyed many men in history, so don’t let yourself become the next person on the list. Nations are brought to war by their leaders for numerous reasons. These include social and economic inequalities, politics or just sheer greed. But is it all worth it? As humans on this Earth, we have seen our fair share of tragedies and disasters, but nothing compares to the tragedy of war. The sad reality is that wars are constantly fought. After every war, many nations only seek to prepare for the next. Peace is just reduced to the mere interlude between one war and the next. You would think that, being the most intelligent animal species on Earth, human beings would be able to cooperate in peace, but that is almost never the case. This article will show you exactly why wars should never be fought and why peace is so important. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter! #1: Innocent People Are Made to Suffer
Many men and women, many of which unwilling participants, risk and lose their lives on the battlefield. On the other hand, many civilians are sent to concentration camps to be brutally tortured and executed, sometimes just for the fun of it. In fact, war crimes come naturally with any war, as parties on both sides hate each other. The image above shows the infamous Auschwitz death camp which was a place of suffering for many captured Jews during World War 2. On last estimate, more than 1.1 million people were killed there.
#2: Property is Destroyed
In the process of any war, property is destroyed. Towns and houses are obliterated by artillery fire, and in more ancient times, the projectiles fired by trebuchets. Civilians may lose many if not all of their possessions during a war and are forced to evict their former hometowns. Livelihoods are destroyed and many lose their wealth, as many civilians search frantically for a new dwelling place, sometimes to no avail.
#3: Public Panic and Fear
Death comes with any war. And with death, comes public fear and panic. During a war, civilians may lose their possessions and loved ones. Furthermore, they live in fear that they might be attacked anytime at an unknown time and location. As a result, many people develop eating and stress disorders, as they struggle with trauma. In fact, many World War 2 survivors still carry them to this day.
Human lives are too precious to be lost to petty feuds and arguments. If only nations will learn to bury the hatchet and work together, the world would be a much better place. Let us remember that wars harm the parties on both sides and that innocent people are the ones who bear the brunt of the war. How many of you dream to be rich? What does being rich mean to you? Do you imagine yourself with Gucci bags, with jewellery and with a grand-looking house? If you do, then you are mistaken. In fact, rich people are more frugal than you think! Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter. Without further ado, let’s hop right in!
Expectation #1: They Spend Money Like It’s Nothing
Many of us imagine the rich to spend their money like it’s nothing. We imagine them to spend on all the jewellery, properties and physical items they can get their hands on.
Reality #1: Most of the Rich Are Extremely Frugal!
Here’s the truth. The rich use their money carefully and do not spend it on unnecessary items. Now you might ask, “That’s crazy! They have loads of money, but they don’t do anything with it?” Don’t worry, you’re not alone. Society and its forms of entertainment have brainwashed us into thinking the wealthy live extravagantly. In fact, when we are told to imagine a rich man/woman, we imagine him/her in expensive clothing, with luxurious cars and a dozen villas. However, this is not the practice of the wealthy. The wealthy know that the money spent on these luxuries could be used to start other businesses, invest and save. This multiplies their wealth even more! Of course, the wealthy pamper themselves once in while, however, they understand that those who spend money recklessly are those who will lose their fortunes.
Expectation #2: They Are Wealthy Because of Luck
The majority of us are led to believe that the wealthy either inherited their wealth or got lucky along the way. Many of us believe that the rich got their wealth from the lottery, gambling or being lucky in the stock market, while others believe that the only way to be rich is to inherit it from one’s parents or relatives.
Reality #2: They Are Wealthy Because They Work Hard
Yes, it is true that one can be wealthy because of his/her inheritance or being lucky in the stock market. However, without working hard and using their money carefully, these people will end up losing their wealth and sliding back into poverty. The rich, however, are the ones that are hardworking and persevere. In fact, many who were poor have become rich after years of hard work! One good example is blogging. Many people dismiss blogging as a mere hobby which is unable to generate real and reliable profits. However, there are those who have made their fortune through blogging! But how did they achieve this? These six or seven figure bloggers didn’t just get lucky. In fact, these are the bloggers who endured years of failure and constant learning before achieving their goals! To these people, failure is nothing but an interlude between two successes. You see, you can earn your fortune from just about anything – as long as it does not go against the law and is moral – if you are willing to sacrifice and persist.
Expectation #3: Rich People Are Lazy
It is common to imagine the rich as lazy people who spend every single day enjoying their luxuries and doing nothing else. Most of us believe the rich do not work and live worry-free lives. But is this wholly true?
Reality #3: The Rich Constantly Learn and Look For New Opportunities
Those who are truly wealthy know that lazing around will only result in losing one’s fortune. In fact, the rich understand that change is the only constant and that they have to embrace it. Those who grow arrogant and lazy are those who will fall behind in the race. Knowing this, they learn constantly to keep themselves up to date and look for new opportunities to expand their fortune. Evidently, many of the rich keep a reading habit! (If you would like to learn more about the benefits of reading, do visit https://bestofwrite.com/2020/12/01/why-you-should-read/) As a result, the wealthy are able to protect their fortune even when the unexpected might strike, for they are able to adapt regardless of the circumstances. These are the people who see the bigger picture.
Attaining, protecting and growing your wealth is a game of strategy. A strategist understands that he/she cannot afford to be lazy or reckless, for he/she would risk losing all that he/she has built. Secondly, being wealthy is a possibility for us all, regardless of our current financial situation. We are all blessed with a mind and it is up to us to use it appropriately and wisely. Thirdly, Rome was not built in a day, was it? Nothing comes for free and everything takes time, so don’t worry if you don’t see results yet.

The invention of the instant noodle is one that has changed the world. Since its inception, it has been hailed by many for its convenience and simplicity of use. In fact, many of us consume them regularly whenever we feel lazy to order a take out or cook. But is it healthy? Is it something you should eat regularly? Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter! Let’s jump right in!
MSG, also known as Monosodium Glutamate, is a common food additive in processed foods such as instant noodles. In fact, it has become so ubiquitous that it is used almost everywhere, from food seasoning to your miso soup. Studies regarding MSG have been controversial at best. However, a number of reports suggest that this infamous additive is able to trigger headaches, high blood pressure and other symptoms, while also promoting obesity.
#2: It’s Low In Calories, Fibres and Proteins
You might notice that you wouldn’t feel full after a meal of instant noodles. This is mostly because of the fact that it is low in calories, fibres and proteins. Being low in calories, a meal of instant noodles would not be able to sustain you for as long as a normal meal would, while a lack in fibre content might increase the risk of digestive problems such as constipation.
#3: It Has High Sodium Content
Instant noodles have high sodium content. In fact, a single serving of instant noodles contains almost 900 mg of sodium! Sodium has been linked to numerous health problems. In fact, it increases the risk of atherosclerosis, heart failure and kidney disease.

Forest is an incredible app that brings procrastination to an end. In fact, its ingenious design has brought it to the number #1 spot in the App Store. This article will show you how this app works and how it is useful in our lives. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter. Without further ado, let’s hop right in!
How The App Works
The mechanics of Forest are pretty simple. First, select a timer between 10 to 120 minutes. As the timer runs, your tree would grow. When the timer ends, your tree(s) will be added to your garden. However, there’s a catch. If you unlock your phone before the timer ends, your tree dies. This dead tree will also be added to your garden and you must spend about 60 coins to delete that record. You are able to view your garden and statistics in the app as well. Also, you are able to plant a real tree in life for 2500 coins! How cool is that?
What I Like About The App
- It has a minimalistic design
- It’s simple to use
- The plants in the app look absolutely beautiful!
- It provides additional motivation to stay focused
- You can save the world by planting a real tree for 2500 coins!
How It Benefits Our Lives
In the present world, staying focused has never been harder. With technology everywhere, it is easy to be distracted by our devices and surroundings. In fact, our mobile phones are major sources of distraction. One notification is enough to draw our attentions away. Forest is a solution to this problem. By using positive and negative reinforcement, focusing becomes easier and we are able to focus on our tasks at hand. Seeing the trees you have planted in your garden also provides a sense of satisfaction and joy.
We all need a break from technology and Forest does just that. In fact, this app is so powerful that I recommend it to all students and working adults. I hope that this article was helpful to you and if it was, do consider giving it a like! Thanks for reading and stay tuned for my next article! If you would like to learn how you can increase your productivity, do visit my article at https://bestofwrite.com/2020/12/19/heres-how-you-can-increase-your-productivity/.
It’s easy to get distracted. A notification alert from your mobile phone is enough to throw you off course. We end up procrastinating and we never get our tasks done. So, how do we increase our productivity? This article will show you exactly how to. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter. Without further ado, let’s hop right in!
#1: Clear Your Surroundings
By getting rid of potential causes of distraction, you are better able to focus on your task at hand. Can’t stand that mobile phone? Put it in a separate room. Can’t stop fiddling with markers? Chuck them away. It’s that simple. Still find that you can’t focus at home? Find an environment that suits you. It could be the local Starbucks, a public sitting area or even the park.
#2: Download Apps That Lock Your Phone Temporarily
For this, I recommend Forest. Forest is an excellent productivity that locks your phone for a selected time. While your device is locked, the app will “grow” a virtual tree, which will be added to your garden. However, using your phone before the timer ends kills the tree. This app provides you with additional incentive to complete your tasks and stay off your phone. At first, this might seem hard to accomplish. However, seeing your trees in your garden will provide you with an unrivalled sense of satisfaction and achievement.
#3: Listen To Music
You might have thought that steps #1 and #2 were enough. However, the silence of your surroundings can be incredibly unbearable. Music helps to fill this void and quietens your mind, thereby providing you with concentration. Of course, the choice of your music matters too. Take care not to choose music that would distract you. For example, listening to rock music makes some people tap to its rhythm. I personally recommend listening to classical or orchestral music.
#4: Avoid Multitasking
Believe it or not, when you multitask, you actually aren’t multitasking. Mind blown? What you really are doing is switch-tasking. By nature, the mind is unable to focus on two or more items at once. So, by “multitasking”, you are shifting your attention constantly from one item to another. Naturally, the quality of your work diminishes. The solution to this problem is completing your tasks in a straight line. In fact, this is a tactic used by Samurai warriors when they are outnumbered. They will position themselves in such a way that their opponents would move in a straight line towards them. This allows the Samurai to focus on one opponent at a time. This concept can also be applied to our daily lives. Instead of overwhelming ourselves, let us focus on one task at once.
So that wraps up 4 ways you can increase your productivity. We all know staying focused isn’t easy sometimes and that our distractions can get the better of us. I hope that this article was helpful to you and if it was so, do consider giving it a like! Thanks for reading and stay tuned for my next post!
There are many things we do everyday without a second thought. Our bodies automatically react and act accordingly to the cues of our surroundings. These are called habits. Some habits are great, while some others are destructive. The habits we possess defines who we are and who we will become, as actions speak louder than words. However, we must realise that our habits are the driving force behind our actions. In fact, the importance of habits is often ignored and overlooked by many. This article will discuss the importance of habits and how they influence our lives, even in seemingly small ways. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter! Without further ado, let’s hop right in.
#1: Habits Define Who We Are
Habits determine our identity and the way we see ourselves. For example, if you play badminton regularly, you might see yourself as an athlete. Likewise, if you write regularly, you might see yourself as a writer. Your perceived identity influences most of the actions you take in your life, your values and guiding principles.
#2: Habits Can Lead Us To Success or Failure
Good habits inch you closer to success while bad habits nudge you closer to failure. The actions we take everyday due to our habits, while seemingly insignificant, influence how we manage our finances, set our goals and work towards them. Good habits like reading, for example, provides us knowledge related to our fields. The habit of planning a timetable also helps us to use our time wisely and productively. However, bad habits like smoking wastes your hard-earned money and damages your health. It could also be as simple as being addicted to that latest mobile game or playing tons of ranked Mobile Legends everyday. These habits above waste time and decrease productivity, thereby leading you away from success.
#3: Habits Help You To Be Productive Even When You Feel Unmotivated
There are days we find hard to be productive. You might have worked a long shift the previous day and missed out on sleep. The good news is that habits require little willpower to work. The University College London defines habits as “behaviours which are performed automatically because they have been performed frequently in the past. This repetition creates a mental association between the situation (cue) and action (behaviour) which means that when the cue is encountered the behaviour is performed automatically. Automaticity has a number of components, one of which is lack of thought.” Your body naturally acts the way it has multiple times before, with minimal to no effort. However, there is a limit. If you haven’t been sleeping for the past few days, even your habits can’t save you as the human body can only go so far.
#4: Habits Provide You With Calmness
As stated under point #4, habits help to simplify our lives. We no longer have to use our precious willpower to get something done. As a result, we are provided with calmness of mind as our stress to get things done is removed. We start to lead happier lives as our minds are able to focus on the more important things of life. Indeed, a detached mind naturally possesses clarity and makes wiser choices.
Habits play an important part in our lives. We must learn to master the power of habits and use them to our advantage. Deforestation has adversely affected our environment and climate. In fact, it is one of the reasons why global warming is progressing at an alarming rate. However, all is not lost as reforestation can help to slow down the rate of global warming. The problem lies in the fact that the rate of deforestation exceeds the rate of reforestation. In this article, I will show you why reforestation is so important. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter.
#1: Reduction of Carbon Dioxide in the Atmosphere
Trees are famously known as the lungs of the Earth, and for good reason. Trees, being plants, take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen in the day. This helps to replenish oxygen levels in our atmosphere and reduces the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. By lowering the level of greenhouse gases present in the atmosphere, the rate of global warming is slowed down. However, reforestation efforts have not been very effective due to the fact that carbon dioxide levels have been increasing rapidly in recent years.
#2: It Provides Habitats for Animals
In the process of deforestation, many trees have been burnt or chopped down. As a result, many species of animals which depend on forests for shelter and food face the threat of extinction. Reforestation provides new homes for these animals, thereby preserving wildlife.
#3: It Combats Soil Erosion
The roots of a trees help to hold the soil beneath them together, thereby avoiding soil erosion. Deforestation, however, results in increased soil erosion, as soil is washed away by rain. This makes future reforestation much harder as the nutritious top layer of soil is washed away as well. Reforestation, on the other hand, helps to protect soil from erosion and restore soil fertility.
#4: It Helps to Avoid Desertification
Forests play an important role in the water cycle. Using their roots, they take up water from the ground and give out water vapour through the stomata of their leaves. This helps to maintain precipitation levels in an area and avoid desertification, which is a consequence of deforestation. When an area is cleared of trees, a constant supply of water vapour needed for cloud formation is absent. Consequently, the aforementioned area becomes arid and dry, thereby becoming a desert.
As you might have noticed, this is a relatively short article. However, I believe these reasons are enough to enlighten you about the benefits and importance of reforestation. The world is changing rapidly, and unfortunately, for the worst. What we have is time and we must utilise it carefully. If this article was in any way helpful to you, do consider giving it a like! As we become more reliant on technology, our carbon footprint increases as well. Owing to our busy lifestyles, we may be required to travel frequently on planes or cars. Our mobile phones and laptops require more frequent charges. Our homes have also become “smart”, with gadgets like the Google Home Mini consuming huge amounts of electricity. However, do you know that this enhances global warming? More carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases are released into the air as our power consumption increases. Nonetheless, you can help to save the environment by lowering your carbon footprint, which is in other words the total greenhouse gas emmisions caused by a single person. In this article, I will show you a few ways you can reduce your carbon footprint. Before you continue reading, do follow me and subscribe to my newsletter. Let’s begin!
#1: Take Public Transport
Instead of driving your own car, you could consider taking public transport. A single bus may be able to transport 50 or more people at one time, while a train may be able to transport hundreds at once. A single bus emits less greenhouse gases than 50 cars at one time.
#2: Conserve Electricity
Decreasing your electric consumption not only saves you money but also helps to decrease the amount of greenhouse gas emitted. For a start, you could turn off your fan or your air-conditioner when you don’t need it, while you can also avoid overcharging your gadgets. While it doesn’t seem like much, this helps to save our environment and reduce the usage of fossil fuels, which are unsustainable and will run out in the near future.
#3: Don’t Buy Things You Don’t Need
Some of us get lost in a shopping spree and end up purchasing numerous items, such as that latest Gucci handbag or the latest iPhone. However, this only serves to increase your carbon footprint as much energy is used in the production of goods and items. Furthermore, buying things you clearly don’t need wastes your hard-earned cash.
#4: Buy Recycled Products
Whenever you go shopping, look out for products manufactured from recycled materials. This is because less energy is used to produce items made up of recylced products and this in turn reduces the volume of greenhouse gas emitted into the atmosphere. This also reduces the energy used in extracting new resources as recycling utilises used materials.
#5: Conserve Water
This is something I believe everyone must do. It’s as simple as closing the tap when you are brushing your teeth. Energy is used in filtering, pumping and heating water. Wasting water not only increases your electric bills but also causes water shortage around the world. Many people in the Less Developed Countries are experiencing water shortage due to contamination or worsening climates. It’s important to cherish water and not just treat it as a luxury.
All of us can play a part in reducing our carbon footprints so as to reduce the effects of global warming. We have harmed Mother Earth and it’s time to give back. Let’s not become the architects of our own destruction. If this article was a good read or helpful to you in any way, do consider giving it a like! Thanks for reading!
