Most of us are stuck at home during this COVID-19 pandemic, with gyms closed and public areas restricted. Most of us have started to exercise at home. Many have also began to purchase fitness equipment such as treadmills, cross trainers and exercise bikes to adapt to this lifestyle. In this article, I will show you why an exercise bike is something you should own for yourself. Before you continue reading, remember to follow me and subscribe to the newsletter!
Reason #1: You Can Use it Anytime
Like most other fitness equipment, an exercise bike can be used at home regardless of rain or shine. There is no need to go to the gym, which has limited operating hours. Also, unlike a gym, there is no need to share the exercise bike with anybody. It’s all yours to use, anytime you want.
Reason #2: It’s An Easy Way to Burn Calories and Lose Weight

An hour on the exercise bike can burn you a lot of calories. For those of you looking to lose weight, owning an exercise bike is an excellent choice. An hour on the exercise bike can help you to burn an average of 600 calories. It also helps to reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels. This, in addition to a healthy diet, will help you to burn your fat away and achieve an athletic body.
Reason #3: It’s a Low-Impact Workout Equipment
Unlike other forms of workouts, cycling on an exercise bike uses only the smooth movements of your legs. Since your feet do not lift off the pedals doing the workout, your joints, knees, ankles and hips are protected from unnecessary pressure. This reduces the risk of injury you might face from cycling on an exercise bike, while still providing you with an effective workout.
Reason #4: It Helps to Develop Muscular Strength
Cycling on an exercise bike utilises numerous muscle groups, such as those of your back, legs and thigh. Regular cycling helps to tone these muscles and build muscular strength. In fact, you are able to adjust the resistance level of the exercise bike, thereby adjusting the intensity of your workout. If you feel like giving yourself a challenging workout, you could give yourself a higher resistance level to cycle with. Likewise, if you are tired and don’t feel as energised, you could give yourself a lower resistance level to work with. Furthermore, the ability to determine and control the resistance level of your bike makes it suitable for adults and children of any age.
Reason #5: It Improves the Strength of Your Heart

Cycling on an exercise bike is a great cardiovascular workout. It is a high intensity workout and get your heart pumping. Cycling regularly has been shown to increase the efficiency of your heart at pumping blood. Likewise, it also lowers blood pressure, especially if you have high blood pressure, and helps to regulate your blood sugar levels. Last but not least, as I mentioned earlier, cycling on an exercise bike helps to reduce bad cholesterol levels, thereby resulting in less plague build-up in your arteries and reducing the risk of heart attack. Research has also shown that cycling on a stationary bike for 30 minutes a day and 5 days per week can extend your lifespan.

the fact that it’s low impact is definitely a great point. I’ve learned having legit gym equipment that you actually enjoy using is a major incentive for working out at home. I hate running so never used my treadmill, but stationary bikes made a huge difference. Great points!
